Wow!

I can't believe that I will be in Peru on April 6th.  There has been a lot of preparation for this trip.  Shopping, planning, thinking, worrying, smiling, etc.
I've resorted to making a list.  I usually keep track of everything in my head, but now I'm pretty sure that I'm going to forget something important if I don't.  When I went to Ghana in February, I packed the day I left.  I definitely don't recommend that.  So this time, I'm trying to be more thoughtful with my planning.
Things I need:
  • passport
  • yellow fever immunization card
  • 3-4 shirts (I'm bringing the quick-dry kind)
  • long-sleeved shirts
  • 2-3 pairs washable pants
  • rainproof jacket
  • light fleece
  • underwear and socks (quick-dry is best)
  • warm pajamas
  • hat
  • walking shoes (maybe I'll get waterproof ones)
For toiletries, I need:
  • anitbacterial gel
  • sunscreen (The sun is strong on top of Machu Picchu!)
  • shampoo
  • tissues and toilet paper
  • insect repellant (in addition to the Malarone-medication for malaria)
  • deodorant
  • tooth brush and tooth paste
And other stuff:
  • journal (I may just use my ipad)
  • daypack
  • water bottle (camel back)
  • alarm clock
  • money belt
  • sunglasses
  • camera
  • flip cam
  • ipad
  • adapter
  • extra zip lock bags
I have some serious shopping to do.  I don't have a rain poncho, rain jacket, boots, quick-dry socks, cargo pants, batteries, and a bunch of other stuff.
Am I forgetting anything?

Hello Peru!

Hello Peru!

I'll be in Peru from April 6th to April 17th.  There will be 20 educators traveling together to Peru.  Most of us are from Weymouth Public Schools, but there are a few from Hopkinton.

My plan is to have a blog while I am in Peru so I can stay connected with my students and anyone else who wants to read my blog!  I've never had a blog before, so this is my first "go" at it.  Wish me luck!

Anyways, this is the itinerary for our trip.

We fly into Lima.
The next day we fly to Cuzco (also spelled Cusco).  We'll be in Cuzco for two days and we'll be there for the Easter celebration.  It is supposed to be extremely fun.
After Cuzco, we're going to Machu Picchu.  I can't wait.
After Machu Picchu, we'll be visiting two schools in or near Urubamba.
After, we're heading to Puerto Maldonado.
Then it's back to Lima and we fly back to Boston.

Which place seems to be the most exciting?  Let me know.
